HE Programme Manager

Job Description:
This role is part of the Cultural Engagement (CE) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), which oversees arts, education, English, and research initiatives. Our globally led programmes align with our strategic framework to deliver key performance indicators and impact.
The Programme Manager will be responsible for implementing the Higher Education (HE) portfolio in Nigeria. This includes managing activities related to the Study UK Campaign, alumni engagement, higher education partnerships, and internationalisation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with stakeholders across Nigeria, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the UK in the Higher Education sector.
- Oversee financial monitoring, reporting, and compliance with British Council standards.
- Implement programme management standards, ensuring evaluation, Value for Money, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) requirements are met.
- Negotiate with vendors and ensure cost-effective programme delivery.
- Use British Council tools to monitor and report on programme activities.
Programme Planning & Delivery:
- Develop project management plans with the Business Unit Head, Programme Directors, and regional teams.
- Lead teams to ensure timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality programme execution.
Marketing, Communications & Evaluation:
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to share impact stories through internal and external channels.
- Manage relationships with contracted delivery partners to ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and storytelling.
Financial & Contract Management:
- Ensure effective programme budgeting and financial reporting.
- Prepare and monitor contracts, ensuring compliance with engagement and delivery terms.
Business Development & Stakeholder Management:
- Conduct due diligence on new partners and support contract approval processes.
- Maintain relationships with government bodies, private sector partners, funders, and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Education, Humanities, Social Sciences preferred).
- Experience managing large-scale education or youth development programmes.
- Desirable:
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
- Project Management certification (or equivalent training).
- Experience managing high-level stakeholder relationships in the UK and Nigerian HE sector.
- Knowledge of international education marketing and student recruitment strategies.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the Nigerian Higher Education sector and student mobility trends.
- Proven project management experience, including financial and stakeholder management.
- Experience with international education services and higher education event coordination.
Remuneration:
- Annual Gross Salary: NGN 23,652,757.00
